FS2002 Kahului International Airport, Maui, Hawaii
By: Bill Melichar
bilboyz@aol.com, for problems, info., and hopefully compliments!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This scenery updates Kahului airport, at Maui, Hawaii. It includes a completely new main terminal in a Hawaiian style architecture, complete with gates, or stairs to accomodate A1 aircraft. It also has two static aircraft in Hawaiian liveries, which should not conflict with A1 aircraft, and a parking lot in front of the terminal. There are many coconut palms, and other native Hawiian plants to make you feel like you are there. This airport is an easy hop from Honolulu, which is why I decided to create it, since it is one of my most traveled flights in FS.

Installation:

1. Extract the file into a temporary folder, which ever name you like. Remove the kahu folder, and place it in your FS2002 scenedb folder.

2. Start FS2002 and go to World tab, then to Scenery Library, and click add. Find the scenedb folder and click on it, then find the kahu folder and click on it. kahu should appear in the title window, then click on OK on the lower tab. You will now see kahu at the top of the scenery library list. Just click on OK, and the scenery will install.

3. After installing the scenery, you will have to add the exclude file to eliminate the default FS2002 terminal. Simply copy the following lines, and paste them in the FS2002 main scenery configuration file of your new kahu scenery. kahu should be the last, since you just added it. Just copy and paste this line to the end of the file.
Exclude=N20 53.79,W156 26.35,N20 53.39,W156 26.03,all
Remote=

4. This scenery includes three differnt display levels. With your scenery density slider on Normal, you will get all the scenery without the static aircraft, and blue light docking system. On Dense you will get the blue light docking system, but no static aircraft. On Very Dense, you will get everything, with very little affect on frame rates, and with no interference with A1 aircraft

Blue light docking system:
When creating a scenery like this, I am working blindly as to where the buildings should be, so I normally put down roadways, or taxiways as a reference point, and eliminate them later. In this case, I liked the affect of the narrow taxiway, which shows you where the front wheels of the aircraft should be, when docking at the gate, so I left it in.

Credits:

John de Langristin: Once again for all of his helpful scenery macros, in this case, the parked cars.

Mike Wallace: For his very realistic static aircraft.

Gerd J. Winterfeld: Thanks for the fantastic coconut palm macros, which I depend on for almost all my scenery enhancements.

Richard Powell: A special thanks for the wonderful tropical tree macros, which I have used in all my scenery enhancements! Without you, there would be no banana trees out there!

Rafael Sanchez: For your terrific Nova Program, and the most realistic finger gates in FS land!
